After Osama's Death

After US President Barack Obama announced the death of terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden yesterday, the news media reported that almost every one are happy with his death.

Even a radical website in Indonesia seemed to be happy too, only they assumed that Osama's death has been a Syahid Death (killed in a holy war).

However, there were some alarming news about the possibility of Osama's organization Al-Qaeda making efforts to revenge his death.

The Chief of U.S Central Intelligence Agency Leon Panetta warned the world to be on high alert because he believed that Al-Qaeda almost certainly will try to avenge.

While the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto said that the government is bracing for possible reactions by local hard-line groups following Osama bin Laden’s death and stepping up security.

I hope that Osama's death would not soften our government's efforts to eliminate any acts of terrors in Indonesia.

Osama may have been killed, but that's not a reason to be happy. First of all to rejoice the death of a human being is pretty rude. Moreover his relevance had already been seriously diminished; I think his organization - primarily based on huge anger among the youth in the Arab world- seems has been overtaken by the present peaceful revolution of the 2.0 generation.

However in the short run the risk of terror may be larger. It did touch my mind that in the coming months travelling to Indonesia could be hazardous. But well, I guess the authorities will do their job.

@Meutia,
Yes people seemed to be happy.

@Colson,
I agree that it is rude to be happy on the death of a human being.
And his influenced has diminished.
I hope that the present peaceful youth revolutionary movement in the Arab world has overtaken Osama's influence.
As long as there is widespread poverty and injustice, difficult to eliminate terrorism. They are similar to the communists between the '50s and '70s.

@Smp3lembang,
Let us hope that our intelligence and law enforcement agencies would be able to eliminate terror here.

@Peter/Kiwi,
Yes there are many people like him on the lose.

@Sawali,
Biasanya mayat dari seorang musuh dipertontonkan ke publik, sehingga orang akan bertanya kenapa dalam hal ini tidak dilakukan dan mayatnya dikuburkan dilaut.

@Nyach MMS,
Their names sound similar.

@Furree Katt,
I am very glad to hear from you in Pakistan, especially about this case. I hope you and your loved ones are okay.
Let's hope and pray to God that everything will become peaceful.

@Akhnayzz,
Salam kenal juga, terima kasih.

@Attayaya-mading,
Nama keduanya terdengar agak mirip.

Menggemparkan...Bro

Thank you for your perspective. I agree with those who commented that the celebrations were rude. However, most of those people celebrating looked young and do not have the benefit of long experience. They came of age under a fear of Osama so they are relieved that he is gone.

I too feel relief that he is gone. Persons who commit evil acts are indeed frightening, and it is difficult to deal with them without being harsh. I do not know the answer on dealing with evil, but I join you in hoping for peace.

Unfortunately he is not the last evil person on Earth. Let's pray to be protected in our home countries.

Hi Harry, one less evil person in the world has to be a good thing. His death means so much to so many people through out the world not just Americans or Europeans but in Africa as well. The sensationalism of his death is concerning in my opinion and I hope that it becomes old news fast. Looking forward, I can hope that acts of terror towards anyone anywhere becomes less and that the world is becoming a more safer place to live for all.

@Salesman Jogya,
Iya beritanya menggemparkan.

@Linda,
Relief is the right word, and not happy, to depict how people felt about the death.
Thank you for your correction.

@Terrans,
Yes let us pray for an everlasting peace in the world.

@Luke,
Many people believe, including me, that Osama's death would not end terrorism including in Indonesia.
As long as there is widespread poverty and injustice and no serious efforts to eliminate them, very difficult to expect that terrorism will diminish.

kematian osama belum tentu membuat dunia makin aman

Unknown said...

R10,
Walaupun tidak menjamin bahwa dunia lebih aman paling tidak memberikan rasa lega kepada banyak orang dan percaya diri kepada pemerintah dalam membasmi teroris.
