The Twin Eid Ul Fitr

This evening the Minister of Religious Affairs Suryadarma Ali announced that the Eid Ul Fitr would be on Wednesday 31 August.therefore one day later than predicted by many people.

The Minister made the decision after meeting with relevant institutions including the Indonesian  Islamic Cleric Council (MUI) based on the reports of a team of astronomers in 80 locations in the country

With this decision, there will be two Eid Ul Fitr celebrations in Indonesia, i.e.Tuesday which will be celebrated by the second largest Moslem organization Muhammadiyah, and Wednesday which will be celebrated by most Moslems including the largest Moslem organization Nahdatul Ulama (NU).

I hope that this difference would not create other differences among both organizations as has been promised by their leaders.

Tuesday or Thursday. And last minute call. This is beyond me.

But then I'm an outsider and a layman as far as astronomy as well as the religion is concerned.

But, with all due respect, this IS confusing. There can't be any misunderstanding about the position of the moon. And this position is not something of a sudden surprise: it was well known long ago.

difference is grace. the truth is always visible behind the day.
hopefully with our differences become more mature..

@Colson,
The decision is made based on astrological calculation.
I am not very sure about it.

@Wisata Murah,
Let us hope that everything will be fine.

@Wisata Murah,

Indeed,using two dates might divide the sectors further....

Good luck with the two dates celebration. As long as unity and realpeace and one's heart is sincere, no differences should occur...

These differences in Indonesia are so common. Nothing to worry. :)

@Munir Ardi,
Semoga demikian jadinya, bang.

@Filipina Ini,
You are right, unfortunately.

@Webby Lady,
Yes what's in one's heart really counts in this case.

@Boyin,
Maaf lahir batin.
Glad to know that this difference can be good for your business.

@R10,
Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri, mohon maaf lahir batin.

@Muhammad Dadan,
Yes the differences have actually occurred many times in the past.
Good for you.
