A photo (courtesy of The Jakarta Globe) showing the Minister of Information and Communication Tifatul Sembiring (middle) reaching out to shake the hand of Michelle Obama (right) during U.S President Barack Obama's recent visit to Jakarta.
@Colson, " Picture of the Week " that's a good idea. But this matter is leading us nowhere not good for my country. I hope that this would be a very good lesson for the minister that dealing with top figures of foreign countries is not the same as with locals.
@Sawali, Sebenarnya memang tidak istimewa kalau dilakukan oleh orang yang biasa melakukannya, dan kalau diantara sesama orang Indonesia.
@Passionate Blogger, The matter here is that before meeting Michelle Obama, the minister always refuse to shake hands with females.
The first word that I had when I saw the news on the handshake was "gotcha!" and I smiled and said to myself "Now you see what you'll get if you trumpet your oath but you can't keep it!"
But soon I realised he's just human no matter how devout he is. That kind of hiccup can happen to anyone including us. So I thought I did not have to make fun of him any further. In addition, the hiccup did not do any harm to others! :)
It is not just about the handshake and the ministers insistence that Michelle Obama has "forced" him to take her hand, but also other controversial things that the he has been saying.
If he is just another public figure I don't mind him talking like that.
But as a minister he should talk for everyone not just for people who has the same opinion. All this nonsense is leading us nowhere, thus bad for our country. Therefore I agree to stop talking about it.
Give me a break all ready. You cant shake , bow , look , smile at any other head of state these days. Pretty soon the President will have to travel the wolrd in a Burka. lol Check out my blog become a follower I have a new Post on Charlie Sheen I think you will like it.
wondering if he could just give the tip of his fingers to her? Would that be considered impolite since she is the first lady? Then again, perhaps he should wasting his precious time by tweeting so many rubbish and just get to work...

Jhess,
Hi Jhess, thank you for the comment.
I'll check your blog.
The problem was he already announced his principle publicly. So every eyes focuses on his self.
Hi Tikno,
You are very right, if he had not publicly announced his principle there would not be a controversy.
wondering if he could just give the tip of his fingers to her? Would that be considered impolite since she is the first lady? Then again, perhaps he should wasting his precious time by tweeting so many rubbish and just get to work...
I can not but use two words in my language: oetlul huichelachtige.
@Dream Catcher,
He shouldn't show up so there would not be any shameful controversy.
