Dulmatin

Before ending his speech at the Australian Parliament, President Suslio Bambang (SBY) said that yesterday the Indonesian Anti Terrorists Unit has killed the most wanted terrorist in South East Asia i.e. Dulmatin.

SBY has every reason to be proud, because Dulmatin (39) was wanted by Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia and the United States for his acts of terrorism since 2000 in Jakarta, Bali and the Philippines, that has killed hundreds of Australians, Americans, Philippines, Indonesians and people from other countries.

For details, please click here, here and here.

I am glad that the Police's Densus-88 anti Terrorists Unit has once again proven their top abilty in combating terrorism in Indonesia. I hope that the government would follow up this success by eradicating the causes of such evil acts, i.e injustice, poverty, unemployment, corruption.

The act of "terrorism" or labelled as "terrorism" doesn't sprung out of nowhere, there has to be a reason for them to do so. That reminds me of a quote by some pirates LOL:

"Because I do it with one small ship, I am called a terrorist. You do it with a whole fleet and are called an emperor."

I agree with you that it's imperative to tackle the source of dissent and frustration.A wise old man from China called Confucius said:

"Therefore to see what is right, and not to do it, is want of courage or of principle."

We could also ponder on what Dwight D. Eisenhower said:

"May we never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion" ....because when the loyal opposition dies, the soul of the nation also dies with it.

What a sad world we live in today.

Umihoney,
I always love reading your comments and the quotes you referred made.
Terrorism, like any other acts which are against the law, exist because there is reason to do so. Therefore it can such reason can be eliminated, then terrorism would most likely be eliminated too.

Dulmatin may be dead, but terrorism is still out there, threatening us around the clock and it's potentially bursting into the real terrors if we are unalert. And of course besides terrorism causes miseries and ordeals it also counts against our stand in the international views on our country's safety.

On the other hand, it is practically impossible to fulfil the very basic demand of the terrorists because they want to replace the present laws (and the constitution) with that of sharia law...

So when talks hit the wall, arms themselves will talk... but let's hope that these problems will not last long...

@Kemindokan,
Yes, let there be no more terrorist.
Thanks a lot, I follow your blog right away.

Yari,
I agree that terrorists will always be there watching every moves we made. One way to minimize their acts and influences would be to eliminate every thing that makes them exists, i.e injustice, corruption, poverty etc.
Otherwise, they will always be strong.

Boyin,
Thank you for dropping by.
Yes, this is a 'reward' that will surely make SBY more powerful.
Let's us hope that would not be overwhelmed.

So in the end Dulmatin by getting shot yesterday did the country and especially the President a favor. For some time attention will be drawn from to disasdtrous CenturyBank case tgo successfull acting on terrorism.

Colson,
Precisely! Just like the bombs that explodes before the presidential election which silenced contestants who protested over the huge numbers of unlisted voters.
But the most important that matters right now is peace and order, so that development can be accelerated and poverty can be eradicated soon.
