The Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) refused to issue a Fatwa (Edict) that declare the Indonesian Islamic State (NII) movement as Haram (forbidden).
Gatra quoted MUI Chairman KH Amidhan as saying that MUI shall not issue such Fatwa because radical movement is already prohibited by the laws in Indonesia, therefore such Fatwa is not necessary.
Amidhan said that a Fatwa is issued for things which are still not clear (forbidden or not), whereas radical movement is clearly against the Law and Religion.

It doesn't take any MUI fatwas to realise that we do not need NII to replace the current Indonesian nation that we know today. Period. Hehehe...

I heard that according to NII's islam, praying is not obligatory, red wine is halal..now... If they could issued fatwa on ahmadyah because ahmadyah confused people... I think the same can be said regarding NII.. just saying.
I can see why it calls for courage and intelligence for clerical believers to condemn fellow believers for a radical, well, dangerous and crazy ideal.
Both intelligence and courage are scarce commodities obviously.
But reading triesti's comment I think there is a glimmer of hope; NII loves wine too :).

From a religious point of view
Ahmadiyah has a basic principle which is contradictory to that of Islam.
The difference is like Christians have Jesus, and another Christian sect chooses someone else other than Jesus.
But those differences cannot be used to justify the use of violence
the government should take actions against those who used violence.
While NII is clearly against the law and religion.
