At 8 a.m this morning I went to the Kebayoran Baru Tax Office, South Jakarta, to submit my personal annual Tax Report.
Yes today, 31 March, is the last day for individual citizens and legal entities in Indonesia to submit their annual Tax Report. In this connection, The Jakarta Post reported that the Tax Office will be opened until 8 p.m tonight.
For me, submitting Tax Report is something special because by doing so I felt that I have fulfilled part of my obligations to my country, therefore give me the rights to demand and expect that things would be improved, among others by writing on this blog.

ortu saya udah belum ya..?
today it's also tax day in NL.. their lowest brackets: 33%.. ours: 5% of income
their corruption is much lower than ours.
oh well..
i'll have to start paying tax from next year, when i turn 18! right now i'm enjoying my full and uncut salary haha
gag ngerti boso londo saya
hehehe
@TUKANG CoLoNG,
Kalau terlambat dikenakan denda.
@Triesti,
That is very terrible comparison.
@Furree Katt,
So 18 is the age for paying tax in Pakistan. You better enjoy yourself.
@Yanuar,
Saya sangat menghargai komentar dalam bahasa saya sendiri. Terima kasih.
wah...apa kata dunia gak bayar pajak :D selama masih ada Gayus2 yang belum diberantas, kepercayaan masyarakat untuk membayar pajak menjadi berkurang.
Hi Deasy,
Seperti dikatakan Triesti di Belanda pembayar pajak 33, di kita hanya 5%, itupun dikorupsi.
You are right - a good civilian votes, pays his taxes,participates in society and makes critical contributions.
Like triesti wrote: it's the same over here. It has to be done before the 1st of April ( though one may ask for postponement). Which by the way makes me always feel like paying taxes is part of Fool's day :).
Seriously: I'm convinced that - generally speaking - the higher the income-taxes are in a 'progressive' taxing system' , the better it is for general welfare.
Look at Scandinavia for instance.
met sore... blogwalking ketempat sahabat.
@colson since I'm not paying the highest 52% income tax in NL ... I'd say progressive is the way to go... But honestly, if I have to pay 52% of my income and there are plenty of Gayus, I wouldnt be paying that tax.
@ triesti: The moment wasting tax-money becomes systemic, the moment corruption becomes rampant, I also might consider evading taxes;-P.
If everyone realized just like you, Harry, perhaps the public health budgets will be better as long as there is no Gayus. Recently I posted about government freeing childbirth costs for the poor. But I doubt it will run smoothly.
@Colson,
If there is full transparency in state budget and no corruption perhaps people don't mind paying higher tax.
@Dabo Singkep,
Terima kasih atas kunjungan anda.
@Triesti,
One of the reason why we have very low tax payers is because there are two many Gayus.
@Tikno,
As long as there are still many Gayus here, very difficult to expect that government budget can be used according to plans.
Most people here pay tax PAYE - pay as you earn . The rest put their returns in after March 31.
Hi Peter,
31 April 2011 is deadline from 1 April 2010 until 31 March 2011, after that we report next year.
