The Ragunan Zoo

One of the most visited places in Jakarta during the New Year holiday is the Ragunan Zoo in South Jakarta.

The Jakarta Zoo was first established in 1864 at Cikini, Central Jakarta. In 1966, the area was transformed into Taman Ismail Marzuki cultural park, and the zoo moved to Ragunan, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. The zoo covers 140 Hectares of green park that home to over 260 species of animals (including endangered ones) from all over Indonesia and some other countries. There are more than 4,000 animals in the zoo, including the giant lizard Komodo, Elephants, Tigers, Lions, Snakes, Birds, etc.. There is a special primate zone i.e. the Schmutzer Primate zone. And you & your kids can also take a ride on elephants.

So if you do not have any plan to go out of town on your holidays, why don't you take your family to the Ragunan Zoo.

Kiwi Riverman,

Although it's not as big as the one in outside Jakarta, however the zoo is okay where people from all walks of life can enjoy being there at quite low price.
