However, the result of the final match between Spain and Holland has caused one man dead and two wounded in the Province of Maluku.
Please find below an article about this that I have quoted from the Brisbane Times.
This is a very sad news. I wonder what would happen if Indonesia become one of the participant in the World Cup.
One dead in 'World Cup clash' in Indonesia
July 11, 2010
One Indonesian has been killed and two wounded as rival World Cup fans clash in Indonesia.
Violence broke out between two groups of villagers on Maluku island and several houses were set on fire, police said on Saturday.
It was not immediately clear which teams the rival factions were supporting or how the villager died.
But Maluku police chief Totoy Indra was quoted by local radio saying: "The clash was triggered by a celebration of a winning World Cup team in the area."
Indra said the wounded were being treated in hospital.
He said the situation had returned to normal but police were braced for further clashes.

Oh man..this is serious.
In India, fans get in debate about their favorite teams but the incident you posted about is too much. This is really sad.
MasyaAllah..how incredible.It would make sense if the teams are local.They are so volatile ya.
Long ago the legendary team coach Rinus Michels ( who was the Dutch coach in the World Championship of '74 and won the European Championship in ''88) coined the phrase: "Football is war".
Maybe they took it to literally in Maluku.
No seriously: this is sad. And really bad news. Not just because of the casualties, but because of the possibility it shows the old religious tensions and conflicts between Muslims and Christians may once more emerge.
So sad..I can't believe it happened. It's not Indonesian team anyway..
selamat sore pak.... ^^
Harry I think it is a bit silly to find that two Indonesian/Moluccan groups of supporters (Netherlands and Spain teams) came into physical conflict with one another while they are neither the Dutch nor the Spaniards whereas the real Dutch and Spanish supporters in South Africa can cheer up their teams side by side peacefully without inciting physical conflicts...
@Sumit Sarkar,
This is a tragedy that should not ever happen.
@Umihoney,
Yes they are so volatile, unfortunately.
@Colson,
Many people here, from Maluku, North Sulawesi, Jakarta, and other parts of Indonesia, including me, supported Holland.
But I never thought that the support would cause blood bath and even death.
@Nightblastz,
The incident was totally absurd.
@Senja/Irma,
Saya senang sekali atas kehadiran anda memberitahukan bahwa keadaan anda sudah membaik. Semoga anda akan sehat total.
@Yari,
If they are big fans of each team,
we can understand it. But it is impossible to imagine that they would hurt or even kill each other.
