In the last few days, there are two hot topics that have been the focus of the Indonesian media.
The first one is the demand made by the member of the ruling coalition the Golkar Party that each of the 560 members of the House of Representative (DPR) to be given an "Aspiration Fund" amounting to 15 Billion Rupiah each year.
This demand has been strongly protested by the public including other political parties of the ruling coalition.
The second one is the porn-video showing sex-intercourse between Ariel, the vocalist of a well known Pop band Peterpan, and two well known actresses presenter, model: Luna Maya, and Cut Tari. According to rumors Ariel has made video of his sex-adventures with 32 other women, that people on Twitter have given him the nickname Peterporn. Ariel and Luna denied having played in the sex video, however a telematic expert said that both of them played in the video..
I am not sure whether the above two hot topics just accidentally popped up together at almost the same time.
But one thing for sure is that the Peterporn video has diverted public's attention from Golkar Party's demand for Aspiration Fund.

Indonesia, Greenpeace and Carbon Gas Emission
For many years, developed countries like the U.S.A, Britain, Japan, have been blaming deforestation in Indonesia as one of the major cause of the increase of Carbon Gas Emission in the world
Beside that, environmental activists like Greenpeace have also been blaming and successfully forced foreign buyers i.e. Unilever and Nestle, to stop buying from an Indonesian palm oil manufacturer that have been suspected of destroying forest.
Basically, I strongly oppose massive deforestation in Indonesia, because many of them were done illegally, causing natural disasters like frequent floods, landslides, and destroying the habitat of endangered species e.g Orangutan, Tigers, in Indonesia. Therefore I agree that such deforestation must be stopped or at least minimized.
However, I do not agree if Indonesia is lamed as a major producer of the world's Carbon Emission. As a matter of fact I strongly believed that those developed countries with their advanced industrial and other activities surely caused much larger Carbon Gas Emission, than deforestation in Indonesia.
Considering the above, I hope that Greenpeace would be fair by also paying more attention on Carbon Gas Emission in those developed countries. Especially that Indonesia has voluntarily promised to reduce 26% Carbon Gas Emission by 2020 and plan to stop new forestry license.

Is Obama too Scared to come to Indonesia?
Earlier today, TV stations reported that U.S President Barack Obama has once again postponed his trip to Indonesia which has been scheduled on 14 June.
Please find below a news report about this matter that I have quoted from Kompas .
Considering that no clear reason has been mentioned for this postponement, I wonder whether Obama is afraid to come because of the current wide spread protests in Indonesia against the Israeli deadly attack on a humanitarian ship.heading for the Gaza Strip - Palestine.
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - News on the postponement of US President Barack Obama’s upcoming visit to Indonesia from June to November 2010 was no surprise to some Indonesians. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told Reuters in an email that Obama postponed the trip again in order to deal with the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and other important issues.
In Jakarta, presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal confirmed the postponement, saying "President Yudhoyono and his US counterpart agreed to set right date for the visit either in November or before that." Patti Djalal said , adding the two presidents spoke about it on the phone on Friday morning.
It was the second time in a little more than two months that Obama canceled a trip to Indonesia and Australia. He previously was due to have come to Jakarta in March but later decided to stay at home to give a final push to his healthcare overhaul plan in Congress. He later rescheduled his trip for mid-June but he had again informed Jakarta he could not make it.
Although it was not mentioned by the White House spokesman, some political observers had earlier predicted that besides the oil spill disaster, the shootings by Israeli military of humanitarian activists aboard the Freedom Flotialla’s MV Mari Marmara last May 31, would add pressure on Obama if he continued his plan to visit Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim majority country, this month,
Since the Israeli attack on the Gaza-bound humanitarian aid-carrying ship where 19 activists were killed and tens of others were wounded including two Indonesians, demonstrations have been staged in Indonesia’s capital city and regions daily, to condemn not only the Zionist country, but also Uncle Sam as the Jewish state’s closest ally and protector, for doing nothing to stop the violence. One day after the Israeli assault in international waters, some 1,000 Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) members staged a rally outside the US embassy in Jakarta, on June 1, to condemn Israel’s attack and reject US President Barack Obama’s planned visit to Indonesia.
The protesters unfurled a number of banners which among others read "Wipe Out Israel," "Reject Obama," and "Send Troops to Palestine,". HTI orator Salman Al Farisi said Obama was Israel’s ally and therefore, he did not deserve to visit Indonesia, a staunch supporter of Palestinians’ struggle for an independent state. He also called on the Indonesian government not to be cheated by various policies issued by the superpower country.
In a rally held in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Friday, the local HTI members also voiced their objection to the visit of President Obama for letting human right violations by Israel go unpunished. House of Representatives (DPR) Commission I member I Al Muzzammil Yusuf Muzamil who is also coordinator of the Indonesian Parliamentary Caucus for Palestine said in Jakarta, last Monday that the Freedom Flotilla’s incident was also a test case for US President Barack Obama.
Obama’s efforts to reach out to the Islamic world could be considered to have failed if his government did not defend humanitarian and human rights after Israel’s arrogant attack. Another legislator believed that the Indonesian government should urge the United Nations to lobby the United States to end the Israeli blockade of Gaza.
"The United Nations must lobby the United States to end the blockade of Gaza by Israel and Egypt for dispatching of humanitarian aid such as food and medicines," Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Body (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Hidayat Nur Wahid said in a rally participated in by thousands of members of the Prosperous and Justice Party (PKS) in Jakarta, Thursday (June 3).
If the UN fails to lobby the US, the international body should be dissolved, he said. Indeed, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had earlier intended to take up the Israeli attack on the Freedom Flotilla early at his meeting with President Barack Obama in Jakarta later this month.
Presidential spokesman for international affairs Dino Patti Djalal said at a press conference at the presidential office in Jakarta on Tuesday (June 1), President Yudhoyono wished to raise the issue in the meeting with US President Obama because he was very concerned about the prospects of the peace process in the Middle East which was now being revived through the proximity talks involving western countries.
"The problem will be one of the issues to be discussed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and President Obama," he said.
Dino said the Israeli attack on the convoy of ships bringing humanitarian aid supplies to Gaza with activists from 50 countries on board would be a factual issue for discussion with President Obama because in a meeting with Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas in Jakarta last week President Yudhoyono had discussed the US position in the peace process to be undertaken.
Planned talks in Indonesia between Yudhoyono and Obama have to wait until November (God Willing!), but for sure, for those opposing the occupation of Palestine by the Zionists, Obama, as the head of state of the United States of America, which has been giving strong financial and political supports to Israel, is unavoidably also responsible for human rights violations committed by the Jewish country.

Pesta Blogger 2010 : Logo and Banner
RaRa and her organizing committee for this year's Pesta Blogger i.e. annual gathering of Indonesian blogger, have been doing their job well.
After choosing a nice and interesting theme "Celebrating Diversity", they selected a suitable Logo and a Banner (below) for the event which will be held sometime in October.
Good luck guys!
Salam blogger!

Mari kita rayakan!
Yuk, silakan dipasang banner-nya di blog masing-masing!
Salam blogger!

Cancellation of Forestry Permits
During his visit to Oslo last week, President Susilo Bambang Yudoyono reached an agreement with the Norwegian government in which the latter promised to provide Indonesia with US$ 1 Billion in grant if it stop deforestation.
In this connection, Reuter (below) reported that Indonesia shall cancel forestry permits that have been issued to Palm Oil and Timber companies, and shall not issue new permits in the next two years.
I hope that it would not be very difficult for Indonesia to keep this promise.
Indonesia to scrap permits to save forests-official
By Sunanda Creagh
JAKARTA May 31 (Reuters) - Indonesia will revoke existing forestry licences held by palm oil and timber firms to save natural forests under a $1 billion climate change deal signed with Norway last week, a government official said on Monday.
Indonesia's president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who announced the deal last week in Oslo, said new concessions for the conversion of natural forest and peatlands would be suspended for two years. But he did not say at the time how existing concessions would be affected. [ID:nJAK326556].
Preserving forests is seen as crucial to slowing climate change because trees absorb enormous amounts of greenhouse gases.
Indonesia has huge tracts of tropical forests but a rapid deforestation rate. It has pledged to cut emissions by 2020 to 26 percent lower than the level if no action were taken or 41 percent lower if it is able to secure foreign funding and other assistance, like technology.
Part of the $1 billion promised by Norway will be spent on compensating businesses that have existing concessions cancelled in order to keep forests standing, said Agus Purnomo, head of the secretariat of Indonesia's National Climate Change Council.
"When you revoke licences, when you cancel things, it involves money," Purnomo told Reuters by telephone.
"It's not that we will cancel all licences but (only) if there is a need to do so" to keep primary forest intact, he said.
Compensation to permit holders could include cash, land swaps or other "amicable, workable and realistic solutions", he said.
Palm oil firms such as Wilmar (WLIL.SI) and Indofood Agri Resources (IFAR.SI) have ambitious expansion plans in Indonesia, already the largest producer of an oil used to make products ranging from chocolate to soap.
Palm oil and pulp and paper firms are most likely to be affected, said Purnomo.
"But I am not ruling out any possibility. The spirit of the agreement was to save the remaining natural forest and peatland and we will do whatever humanly possibly to make it happen, within the legal context of Indonesia," he said.
"If we have to go through cancellations in the court system, we will do it."
Permit holders will find out within six months if their concessions will be honoured, he said.
"Some of them don't have a valid permit, they are just making a claim," said Purnomo. "If they don't have a valid permit, we are not going to compensate. If they are getting it through bribery, we are not going to give" compensation.
A text of the Oslo agreement, seen by Reuters, suggests that the moratorium on new concessions for conversion of peat and natural forests will not be implemented until 2011. The document said that the deal will be broken into two phases.
The first phase, which runs until the end of 2010, focuses mainly on preparing and implementing pilot projects under a U.N.-backed forest preservation scheme called reduced emissions from deforestation and degradation (REDD).
REDD allows developing nations to earn money by not chopping down their forests.
The second phase of the deal, running from 2011 to 2013, will focus on REDD, law enforcement and capacity building.
The commitment to a two-year suspension on all new concessions for conversion of peat and natural forests is listed in phase two, suggesting it does not come into effect until 2011. (Editing by Sara Webb and Sugita Katyal)

Pancasila
During a meeting of the committee for preparation of independence of Indonesia (BPUPKI) on 1 June 1945, leader of independence movement i.e. Soekarno introduced the Pancasila i.e. five principles consisting of: Belief in God, Humanity, Unity, Representative Democracy, Social Justice.
On 17 August 1945, independence was declared, Soekarno became president and Pancasila became the basis for the constitution and all laws and regulations in Indonesia.
Since then, Pancasila played a significant role in unifying 240 million Indonesian people living in more than 17,000 islands, consisting of many different religions, ethnics, languages, traditions.
Considering the above mentioned facts, 1 June has been celebrated as the date of birth of Pancasila.
I hope that in the future, interpretation and implementation of the principles of Pancasila would always be carried as a unison, and in line with the laws and regulations in Indonesia. That way, Indonesia will always be a unitary state.
