Police Issue Warning After Pervert Films Actress Urinating
Jakarta Police have recommended that an upscale mall in the central city installs closed-circuit television after a man allegedly followed an Indonesian celebrity into a female toilet and filmed her urinating.
“The door to the ladies room must be equipped with CCTV to prevent perverts or peeping toms and a female janitor should always be around,” police spokesman Snr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar told The Jakarta Globe on Monday.
He added that security officers should be placed near toilets.
Boy was commenting after a Peeping Tom followed soap opera actress Feby Febiola into the toilets at FX Mall in Senayan, Central Jakarta, at 10 p.m. on June 30.
Feby told Metro TV that when she was using the toilet she saw a cellphone being held over the cubicle wall.
She screamed and banged on the toilet’s door but when the person occupying the toilet refused to open it, she called security officers.
“A cleaner said she had scolded the man earlier for entering the ladies’ room to which he replied that he entered the ladies’ room by mistake,” said M Ilham, head of security at the mall.
He said he believed the incident was the first of its kind at the mall and that he believed the offender was drunk.
“His breath smelled like alcohol and he grinned when we questioned him. He didn’t say anything, he just smiled,” Ilham said.
Security guards escorted Feby and the alleged pervert, a university student named Yogi, to Tanah Abang Police where she filed a police report.
Police confiscated the man’s Blackberry and found another five videos of the perpetrator’s victims, including Feby’s.
She returned to Tanah Abang Police on July 8 to complete the police investigation report.
The police are still investigating.
